We get questions about hearing aid chargers and your rechargeable hearing aids daily. So, it’s time to give a good review! Rechargeable hearing aids are gaining huge popularity because they’re low maintenance and keep your cost of hearing aid batteries down.
Here are some quick tips and troubleshooting tips to assist with your daily use.
QUICK TIPS AND FACTS FOR CHARGER TROUBLESHOOTING
Make sure to always use the cords that come with the charger. Do not switch this up with other charging cords that you have at home! – If you are moving the charger from a room/the wall, pull the hearing aids out of the charger before unplugging the charger from the wall. Example: if you are packing for a trip, remove the aids before you unplug the charger. Why? If you pull the charger from the wall with the hearing aids still in it the batteries can go into a fast drain mode! – Wipe your charger down with a sanitizer wipe at least once a month to remove any debris. – Plug your charger directly into a wall socket. Avoid using an extension cord as this could possibly damage the charger.
HOW TO HARD RESET THE CHARGER
Sometimes, the charger will act up with lights or charging and it is best to perform a hard-reset. How to do this:
(1) You will unplug the charger from the wall
(2) You will take apart all 3 pieces (the wall plug, the cord and the charger) and let them sit for 3+ hours separate from each other on a counter.
(3) You will put them back together. This has just hard reset the charger like unplugging and plugging back in a desktop computer.
QUICK FACTS FOR RECHARGEABLE HEARING AIDS BATTERIES
Most of these batteries take about 3-4 hours to fully charge. – Usually about 30 minutes of charging gives you an extra 5+ hours of battery life. – Lithium-ion performance varies depending on your severity of hearing loss, lifestyle and bluetooth use/streaming behavior.
QUICK TIPS FOR RECHARGEABLE HEARING AIDS CARE
It is recommended to send your hearing aid in before your hearing aid warranty expires with the manufacturer to have the internal battery replaced. – Always put your hearing aids in the charging station when not in use – even if they aren’t fully drained. Constant charging will not drain the battery or shorten the battery life. – DO NOT store your hearing aids in an unplugged charging station. We will give you a case to store them in! This COULD drain the batteries and shorten their life. – Make sure your hearing aids are dry and free of debris before putting them in the charging station. – When do you charge your hearing aids? Let them charge while you sleep! Place them in the charger when you take the aids out before bed, and you’ll wake up to fully charged devices!
HELPFUL TRICKS IF YOU DO HAVE AN ISSUE WITH YOUR CHARGER
Try taking the hearing aids out of the charger when you wear them during the day. Once the hearing aids are removed from the charger: —> Unplug the charger and leave it unplugged during the day. —> Plug the charger back up when you are ready to charge the hearing aids at night.
